二人と出会ってから「沖縄」という言葉に触れるたび思うことがある
今日、沖縄の首里の工房で二人はどんな風に過ごしているだろうと
工房のほの暗い光が瞼に浮かぶ
壁に貼られていたJoseph Beuysのポスターのことを鮮やかに思い出す
強く、ストイックに制作へ前進し続ける
二人はとても美しい
彼女たちの手から生まれ出たものは
時代や流行に
揺るぐことのない静かな空気を纏っている
待望の二度目の葉山での展示会
たくさんの方にお目にかかれますことを

1. cicafuという言葉の意味することについて教えてください
制作活動を始めた当初、
cicafuのci（チ）はイタリア語で「ここ、そこ」を意味し
沖縄の方言のカフー：果報（しあわせ）を合わせた造語でした
私達が作った特別なジュエリーを身につけていることで
「そこに幸せがある」ということ。
しかし、私達自身が歳を重ねていくごとに
「cicafu」は特別なハレの日のジュエリーではなく、
毎日身につけていたいジュエリーの意味へと変化していきました。
今は「cicafu」とは自分自身の近くにあるものという意味合いで制作しています。
2. 好きなデザイナーやアーティストを教えてください
2人一致で沖縄の画家の 真喜志 勉 （1941-2015）さんです。
作品は勿論、作家自身の生き方に大いに影響を受けております。
3. 沖縄という場所は制作活動に影響があると思いますか？
沖縄は行きたいと思うところ、果てしない海や空など
眺めたい時に車で自由に動ける気軽さが
制作活動にもとても影響していると思います。
開放感とでもいうんでしょうか。
4. 真鍮とシルバー、素材にどんな魅力を感じますか？
金属全般、シルバーも真鍮も素材の質感が
使い込むことで変化していくところが魅力です。
5. Kasperでの展示会の構想について教えてください
個展では、自分の中での印象的な曲線や直線を組み合わせたアクセサリーが多いです。
自分自身がどんな形をよく身につけているのだろうかとふと考えたときに、
キーホルダーや時計、クロージングに至るまで、
20年以上同じものに惹かれて共に過ごしてきたことに気がつきました。
毎回違う形を作ってきましたが、根っこにある形に対する嗜好は変わっていない。
今回の展示会は、
変わってきた様で変わっていない気になる形を意識した
装身具や、オブジェを制作しています。

1. What does the word “cicafu” mean?
When I started production,it meant a combination of the Italian word
“ci” (here/there) and the Okinawan “kafuu” (happiness).
Wearing our jewelry brought “happiness there”.
But as we got older,
“cicafu” was not just jewelry for special occasions any more.
It changed the to mean jewelry that we want to wear every day.
Now we make things under the name of “cicafu” with an overtone of
“something close (translator’s note: “chikaku” in Japanese) to you”.
2. Your favorite designer or artist?
We both like Tsutomu Makishi (1941-2015), an Okinawan painter.
We are profoundly influenced by his work as well as his way of life.
3. Do you think Okinawa has an influence on your production activities?
It’s easy to get around in Okinawa. You can go anywhere you want and
drive anytime you want, to see boundless sea or infinite sky.
That has a big impact on our production.
I could say it’s a sense of openness.
4. What charms are in brass and silver?
Metals in general, including silver and brass,
change texture by being used for a long time. That is a charm.
5. What is the concept of the upcoming show at Kasper?
In the show, there will be a lot of jewelry with a combination
of curved and straight lines that I found impressive.
When I had a thought about what shape I often wear,
I realized that I have been drawn to the same things from a key ring,
a watch, to clothes, and lived with them.
I have created different shapes every time,
but my underlying preference for shapes hasn’t changed.
For this upcoming show,
we are making jewelry and objects
whilst being aware of the shapes that seem to have changed,
but actually have been unchanged.
