『Atonality and Harmony』
展覧会「無調と調和」に寄せて
一瞬が一瞬へつづく。
日々は ただ漂うことだろうか。
宇宙から見たとき、遠く先の時間に立ったとき、
あれは私を編む確かな一瞬だったと感じることがあるだろうか。
あるとき、
調性音楽に対して無調音楽という言葉があることを知る。
そこから頭の中では、音楽の範囲を飛び越えて、
何が調和かを想像せざるを得なくなる。
二つは違う言葉のようでいながら、
お互いがそれぞれを内包した同じ言葉のように感じる。
私は、両極にあるものの間であったり、
片方と思い試みたことが反対側のことを語るというような、
矛盾やあわいに興味があるのかもしれない。
現象とかたちの親和性に想いを馳せながら、
自覚と無自覚の間の、一瞬の判断を肯定し、
あたらしい線を引いていく。
それは小さな勇気以外の何者でもない。
そうして、線が次の線を導く連作「Bagatelle」を中心に、
絵が絵を呼ぶように生まれた小品も共に発表します。
漂う今、一瞬一瞬を肯定していけますように。

“Atonality and Tonality”
Moments follow moments.
Does every day mean just drifting through life?
If I see the moments from outer space or a distant future,
would I feel that they somehow made me?
One day, I heard the words “atonal music”, as an opposite to tonal music.
Since then, its notion leaped beyond the category of music,
and I could not stop thinking in broad terms ‘what is tonality’?
While both words seem different, they still feel the same––words that include each other.
I am interested in those in-betweens and contradictions,
like between the two extremes, or things that I thought would be on one side speak to the other side.
In thinking of affinities between phenomena and forms,
I make decisions in a moment between consciousness and unconsciousness and draw a new line.
It is nothing but a little courage.
This exhibition will present Bagatelle,
a series of drawings featuring lines, as well as new small pieces.
I hope that we can affirm each moment as we are drifting.
I would be happy if everyone would enjoy the exhibition in their own way.
